Hi Zoe,

thanks for your interest in the HLD.

The HLD is the first ever held plenary debate on international migration and development. It will provide a forum for member states, intergovernmental organizations and UN entities to discuss the multidimensional aspects of migration. GA resolution A/RES/60/227 provides the basis for this and envisions a discussion that shall “identify appropriate ways and means to maximize its development benefits and minimize its negative impacts (…)” (of migration).

IOM New York (International Organization for Migration with headquarters in Geneva), where I have worked this spring and summer, has been invited to participate in the preparations for the HLD and will co-host several side-events since it is the major organization dealing with migration.

If anything else, please let me know. Within the realm of international affairs, what exactly are you interested in?
